Frequently Asked Questions About Our Security Solutions

How do I arm and disarm my alarm system?

We have many models out there but 95% of them work like this: Close all the doors. If you have an Away or Stay button press and hold for 3 seconds and the system will arm. If you do not, you can simply press # & 2 for Away or # & 3 for Stay. To disarm your system enter your four-digit code and press OFF (off might be on the 1 key).

What will happen if I lose power?

Our alarms have a battery back-up that will power the alarm system for 4-48 hours during a power outage. If you lose power please review these helpful hints.

What does “No AC” mean on my keypad?

When your alarm system is running on the backup battery it will say “No AC” in the display window.

What happens when the back-up battery gets low after losing power?

When the battery gets low the word BAT will appear in the window and the keypad may beep. Entering your code and pressing OFF will stop the beeps. Don’t worry if you lose power long enough to drain your battery. When power returns the system will return to normal operation in the same state as when the battery was drained.

Will the back-up battery re-charge?

When the power returns, the battery will automatically be recharged. If the BAT does not clear for your keypad within 24 hours, call the office; you may need a new battery.

How do I make my alarm keypad beep every time I open the door?

Loss of power may turn off the keypad chime heard when you open a door. You can turn your chimes back on by entering your four-digit code followed by the “9” key.

How do I test my system?

Call the monitoring station at 205-978-1234 and tell them you wish to test your system and for how long. Arm your system and leave; after the exit delay stops, re-enter but do not turn off the alarm. Open any door or window you wish to test and trigger your smoke alarm. Finally, turn off your system and call the monitoring center back to check and see what signals they received.

  • Test your system monthly: Call (205) 978-1234. When it is in test arm in the Away mode and leave the house, stand outside by the door you normally exit through. Five seconds after the beeping stops open the door. After the delay expires open and close all doors and walk in front of the motion sensor. This is also a good time to test your monitored smoke detectors. After you have triggered the last sensor you wish to test, wait 20 seconds before disarming the system. Call back to confirm they received your signals.
  • If your system was programmed with the cancel feature and within 30 seconds you turn it off, the monitoring station well get a cancel signal from the system telling us you disarmed the system; we will terminate our actions and we will assume it was just a false alarm.
  • You may always call us and tell us it was just a false alarm (205) 978-1234.
  • If no cancel signal is received we will call you. Have your Password ready! If no one answers, the police are immediately dispatched.
  • If you need a longer entry-exit delay, need repair service or have a billing question, call (205) 978-1234 during business hours.
  • If you have unexplained false alarms call us to fix the problem.
  • If any of your emergency contact information should change call (205) 978-1234.
  • It is your responsibility to prevent false alarms and understand it is critical that all users of the system are trained on the proper use of the system.
